Abstract

Arabic has a very rich morphology, in which each word can take various forms and patterns, resulting in different meanings. One of the morphological patterns often found in Arabic is wazan af'ala. This study aims to analyze the use of wazan af'ala in Juz 15 of the Quran through a morphosemantic approach. Wazan af'ala is one of the significant morphological patterns in Arabic, which not only affects word structure but also carries important variations in meaning within the context of verses. This study focuses on identifying the forms of wazan af'ala, analyzing morphological changes, and exploring the theological and semantic implications of this pattern. The primary data, consisting of verses in Juz 15, were analyzed using tafsir and linguistic analysis methods with an integrative approach. The results showed that wazan af'ala appeared in various grammatical forms, such as madhi (past tense), mudhari' (present/feature tense), amr (imperative), and mashdar (verb nouns). This pattern is used to convey causative meaning, declarative meaning, resultative meaning, restrictive meaning, and intentional meaning. In addition, this study reveals that morphological changes in wazan af'ala play a significant role in conveying theological messages, such as emphasizing Allah's power, divine will, and the relationship between humans and revelation. This study contributes to Arabic linguistic studies and Quranic studies, particularly in understanding the role of morphological patterns in shaping the meaning of verses. The implications of this study are also relevant to the development of linguistically based interpretation methods and integrative approaches for deeper understanding of the Quran's messages.
